Murder on the Orient Express

Railway Hotel, 65 Gingell Street, Castlemaine

The Victorian Historic Railways is putting on a Night on the Orient Express!! We travel from Castlemaine to Maldon while viewing this classic 1974 film aboard their classic steam train.

A welcome aboard glass of champagne sets the scene. A short introductory talk explains some of the background and actual events that led Agatha Christie to pen the novel.

We view the movie as our train slowly steams through the night to Maldon. Accompanied by the sights and sounds of our steam engine, the level crossing bells, the passing lights in the night, it is an unforgettable experience.

Welcome aboard the Orient Express - Murder on the Orient Express.

During the journey and at interval at Maldon the fully stocked bar is open and our stewards are on hand to offer a drinks' and snack service that Poirot would be proud of! On the return to Castlemaine watch Poirot use his little grey cells to solve the ultimate "whodunit".

Departs from platform 3 Castlemaine Station at 7.00pm and returns to Castlemaine at 10.00pm.

The atmospheric Railway Hotel just opposite the station in Gingell Street offers a 10% discount on their a la carte menu just for our passengers on movie nights.

To qualify for the meal deal, you must be dressed in appropriate 1920s to 1930s to 1940s outfits and will be pre-booked. Boas, double-breasted suits and violin cases are quite acceptable.

Dinner starts at 5.30, and you must show your movie ticket. It is a leisurely two minute walk to Platform 3 from the Railway Hotel.
