Trivia - Sherlock Holmes Inn

Sherlock Holmes Inn 415 Collins St, Melbourne

Join us for a trivia night at the Sherlock Holmes on Collins Street which is a British styled pub located on Collins Street.

The trivia night is hosted by comedian Janet McLeod and offers winners $50 food & drink vouchers as well as quiz rounds for Jugs of Beer, Bottles of wine etc. Janet is a well respected comedian and has a way of getting you involved in the night.

The Sherlock Holmes opened in 1985 and the hostelry has been extremely well received, as have its comestibles, ales wines and spirits. So much so that the worst criticism has been that the establishment is too small for the large numbers of discerning citizens who wish to avail themselves of the sundry attractions which this unique tavern affords.

Here is a home for the aficionados of the works of the eneffable Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, where the friendly shades of Dr Watson, Professor Moriarty (a changed man since he went over the falls) and the Stradivarius-playing, opium-smoking genius himself, the Great Detective, await your pleasure.

In the early 1900s Melbourne, there used to be a waterslide that shot Melbournians into the Yarra River as part of the exiting entertainment complex and hence its name.

Comedy Play: Rules for Living

Red Stitch Actors Theatre, Rear 2 Chapel Street, Windsor/ St Kilda East

Come and enjoy a play on Saturday night which is run in association with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, we have organised discount tickets for our group.

Rules for Living is about a family that plays together sleighs together...

A familiar premise – the family Christmas fraught with tensions and habitual misunderstandings – is upended into a theatrically inventive, hilarious comedy about the coping strategies we each adapt in life, for better or worse.

Drawing on theories of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Rules for Living is an intelligent study of our perfectionist culture that exposes the fascinating and complex neurosis underneath.

The play is a Susan Smith Blackburn Prize Finalist and reviews say “Nothing prepared us for this play...hilarious”– The Guardian.

The theatre is opposite the Astor Theatre and is 5 mins from Windsor station and also trams 5 and 78 stop at the junction of Chapel Street and Dandenong Road.

Friday Night Drinks - Prahran Hotel

82 High Street, Prahran

The Prahran Hotel is an iconic Melbourne pub located in the heart of Prahran, serving thirsty locals and alike since the mid 1800’s.

At its core, it offers everything you’d expect from your local pub – a charming public bar to share a beer with your mates, a bistro, private dining, a beer garden and dedicated functions spaces.

While the soul of the re-invigorated Prahran Hotel remains very much the same, the addition of 17 over-sized concrete pipes stacked to the skyline is the defining feature that has drawn much attention from around the world. Designed to emulate a stack of beer kegs, the concrete pipes double as an external façade and an internal dining space.

St Georges Day in Melbourne

Windsor Castle Hotel, 89 Albert Street Windsor (5 minutes from Windsor Train Station)

St Georges Day is celebrated by the several nations, kingdoms, countries, and cities of which Saint George is the patron saint and is also known as Englands National Day.

Come and enjoy a St Georges Day with a pub with a classic English name, the Windsor Castle which as you would expect from an English name - it is slightly eccentric.

This funky pub has lime green exterior wall and elephants on top of the building but it has one of the best beer gardens in Melbourne, so come and enjoy this inexplicably appealing venue.

It also has a 91% rating on Urbanspoon, a cool pub vibe and a fantastic hidden beer garden.

The pub is secluded down one of the Windsor back streets but it is only a few minutes from Windsor Train Station and really is a hidden gem.

If you are arriving by train at Windsor Station on Chapel Street, look for the Railway Hotel and the walk down Albert Street to find the Windsor Castle.
